Transit Named “Van of the Year” by Auto Express

The first deliveries of the new Ford Transit 2 tonne van range have only been on the road for a week or two, but Auto Express has already named it “Van of the Year”, marking the second time that the vehicle has won this distinction and one of two awards that the popular magazine and website has bestowed on the brand, as the Ford Fiesta also received recognition as the “Best Supermini.”

Auto Express is one of the top automotive magazines and websites, and has been called the definitive car review brand, issuing opinions and reports on more than 1,100 models each year. According to editor-in-chief Steve Fowler, “Ford really has thrown absolutely everything at it and come up with one of the best vans we’ve ever seen. The numbers stack up so well for businesses, while it’s easier than ever to load and more enjoyable to drive.”

Among the factors that the magazine said made the Ford Transit stand out: cost of ownership, unbeatable load-carrying capability for small businesses and commercial drivers, availability of different configurations including wheelbases, cab styles and roof heights.

In addition to recognizing the Transit and the Fiesta, the publication also gave commendations to the Fiesta ST and the Ford Ranger, as well as to Ford of Europe, Middle East and Africa president Stephen Odell for his impact on the industry.
