Ford UK Fleet Sales Show February Increase

The future is looking very bright for Ford UK, as February sales numbers have been analysed and show a marked increase in sales year-over-year in the commercial vehicle market, and the car market as well. Looking at the 2013 sales numbers compared to those from 2012 indicates that not only were the manufacturer’s numbers up as compared to its own sales figures from last year, but that they also led the United Kingdom’s vehicle sales overall in both categories.

Ford’s share of the commercial segment in the UK increased by more than two percentage points, from having accounted for 19.7 percent of the vehicle market in 2012 to 21.8 percent of the market in 2013. The areas that showed the most improvement were Fiesta, Connect and Transit van sales, but medium commercial vehicles also had a strong showing, improving from having accounted for 31.7 percent of the market’s sales last year to 32.6 percent this year. Light commercial sales numbers increased from 11.2 percent of the total UK market to 12.8 percent. Ford UK managing director Mark Ovenden attributed the winning month to a number of factors; he praised his dealer network, along with the continuing improvements in technology that Ford’s new, award-winning vehicles have displayed, and that buyers want.

One of the reasons that Ford UK’s commercial vehicle division has shown such a tremendous resurgence has been the introduction of the Ford Transit Custom. As Ford UK looks to the future it plans to introduce even more fuel efficient, technologically advanced vehicles to its line-up, providing fleet and commercial operators with the type of vehicles that will continue to deliver the quality that fleet purchasers are looking for and keeping the Ford line number one in the United Kingdom.
