VAN EXCELLENCE SCHEME LAUNCHES NEW COURSES

It has been announced that two new training courses will now be offered as part of the Freight Transport Association's (FTA) well-received Van Excellence scheme, expanding the project's scope and ambition.
The Certificate of Excellence for Van Operators and the Certificate of Excellence for Passenger Van Operators will allow fleet owners with a number of Transit van drivers at their disposal to improve efficiency, legality and safety throughout their business.
These recently unveiled courses are to focus on and provide assistance for a variety of important aspects of responsible van driving, including speed limits and limiters, driver's licences and identification, the securing of loads, administration, maintenance and general competence. Those who successfully complete their course will receive a validation certificate that lasts for three years.
With the manufacturers of new Ford vans placing themselves firmly behind the Van Excellence scheme, the initiative has been roundly praised for the way in which it is helping to drive up standards across the commercial vehicle industry.
