Top Summer Car Shows and Events
It’s that time of year when minds are starting to turn towards summer, and for car enthusiasts this means planning just what events and shows will be visited this time around. To help you make that all important decision, to guide you in figuring out just where you will end up visiting, we have compiled this list of the top summer car shows and events.
The Coventry Motofest is a fun-filled motoring weekend that you won’t want to miss.
The two day festival is dedicated to Coventry’s motoring heritage and sees a plethora of vehicle based activities – on four wheels or two – that includes a classic car show, music, culture, an action packed stock car arena, and much more.
We spoke to James Noble, the festival Director for Coventry Motofest, who talked about what’s new for this year’s edition of the event.
“We are looking forward to hosting our biggest and best ever Coventry Motofest, with an array of two and four wheeled motorsport set to take part on the Bennetts Sprint Circuit, uniquely created from the Coventry ring road.
“For 2017 we have an array of new elements to the show such as the Coventry BID Classic, in which we are looking to create a show within a show, which will put classic cars and bikes at the forefront of the festival and provide visitors with an awe-inspiring celebration of our classic motoring heritage.
“There will also be the full range of automotive activities including pop-up and demonstration events, static displays and fringe events for which Coventry Motofest is renowned, in what is now the largest free urban motorsport festival in the UK.
“It’s exciting times for Coventry Motofest and we look forward staging another fantastic event to showcase the city’s incredible motoring heritage.”
So for those with a fascination for classic cars, or those simply looking for an excuse to show off after a trip to a Ford dealership, Coventry Motofest should absolutely be on your radar.

Goodwood Festival of Speed
The largest festival of its kind in the entire world, Goodwood Festival of Speed, which is held annually in West Sussex, regularly attracts more than 100,000 visitors on each day of the festival.
Crowds gather to see a range of events on the grounds of the Goodwood estate, with one of the main attractions being the Hillclimb, which takes place throughout the event on a white-knuckled 1.16-mile course.
According to Goodwood Festival, “Amongst a glittering array of cars and motorcycles from around the world, this year the festival will celebrate racing machines that were so fast, powerful, expensive or complicated that the rules had to be changed to rein them in. This year’s theme – ‘Peaks of Performance – Motorsport’s Game-Changers’ – will pay tribute to the high-watermarks of motorsport.”
The festival combines F1 cars, supercars and motorbikes to great effect, as well as attracting freestyle motocross, trials, BMX, and mountain bikes as riders show off their skills to delighted crowds.

Donkey Sanctuary Car Show
If you fancy heading on down to Sidmouth in Devon this summer, then a trip to the Donkey Sanctuary Car Show is a real treat for classic car enthusiasts.
Taking place at the Donkey Sanctuary, the unique setting plays host to more than 400 vintage and modern cars, with trade stands, Go Karts, lunch, and a musical segment which is new to the show this year.
Chris Phillips, the events manager for The Donkey Sanctuary, spoke to us about what 2017’s show has instore.
“This year’s Car Show is set to be bigger and better than ever with even more fantastic cars, trade stands with local food and drink. I was incredibly overwhelmed at the support that was shown to our wonderful cause last year and I’m looking forward to seeing our Car Show with a family vibe grow and become even more successful this year.
“We aim to bring enthusiast cars and owners together on our show fields for a fun day of in-depth motoring conversation and to offer them the chance to showcase their pride and joy to the public.”
The Donkey Sanctuary Car Show also has a free prize draw to enter, with the winners of ‘Show & Shine’ and ‘Best in Show’ being automatically entered. With the Donkey Sanctuary being open as usual alongside the car show, this really is a wonderful day out for all to attend.

Fitted UK is back for 2017 and will be held at EventCity in Manchester.
Fitted UK is now one of the largest indoor car shows in the UK where visitors will get to see and touch some of the best cars Europe has to offer.
There will be over 1000 of the best cars, supercars and motorbikes on display, with a true bevy of trade and sponsor stands also at the event selling automotive merchandise and products.
There will be a huge selection of food for visitors at the show, as well as live entertainment, car clubs, multiple bars, RC drifting, and a kid’s area.
Date: July 30th
Taking place in two different locations, Cheshire in the North and Hampshire in the South, CarFest is an annual motoring festival, founded by popular radio presenter Chris Evans, which raises funds for Children in Need.
CarFest really is a true festival with its exhibits, races, live music stages, food, drink and even fair rides. This year’s acts include Busted, Olly Murs, The Jacksons, The Vamps, KT Tunstall, The Happy Mondays, Tom Odell, Mel C, Manic Street Preachers, and more.
Speaking about what car enthusiasts can expect this year, the festival have said:
“As ever, CarFest will be packed with as much four-wheeled action as can be squeezed into a weekend. This year’s theme on the track sprint will be ‘Car-Nations’, celebrating some of the coolest and fastest cars from Great Britain, The USA, Japan, France, Germany and Italy. Plus there will be ‘Hot-Wheels’ stunt action including a self-donutting car, motorsport & plenty of supercars with the ever popular Sporting Bears Dream Rides, there really is something for everyone!”
