Sports technology improves Ford’s car-making
Motion technology adopted by top sports stars are being used by Ford to both ease work pressure on employees and raise the company’s game when it comes to product quality.
Special body suits have been worn by production line staff at Ford’s Valencia engine plant, tracking their movements in the same way they monitor how athletes move so coaches can improve performance.
Ergonomists assess the results and help employees adopt a correct posture while the measurements also aid in designing better work stations that fit the employees’ physical dimensions. Ford is now assessing further rollout of the system to its other European plants.
