Record September sales for Ford
The Ford Motor Company has revealed that September sales in the US and India were at a record high and broke previous records.
Ford, which sells both new and used Ford Focus cars, as well as many other popular models, has revealed that throughout the month they sold 185,146 cars in the US - a six percent increase on last year, and their best September sales figures in the country since 2006.
The US results mark an 11th consecutive month of year-on-year sales increases, and this is being put down in part to strong sales figures for the Ford Fusion, which reached 19,972 in September, up 62 percent year-on-year. In the first nine months of the year, Fusion retail sales were highest in the west of America, up 59 percent, while in the southeast of the country sales increased 26 percent.
In terms of other makes, Ford Fiesta sales were up 29 percent on last year, marking the model's best September figures ever, whilst Ford’s F-Series saw a 10 percent increase in sales and the new Lincoln MKZ model also posted its best-ever September figures, with sales up 12 percent on last year's.
Ken Czubay, vice president, Ford U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service, says, “We’re particularly encouraged by the strength of the Fusion and Fiesta, especially in coastal markets. The F-Series also keeps delivering, with our fifth-straight month surpassing the 60,000-vehicle mark and continuing as America’s best-selling vehicle.”
Ford India was also celebrating September sales successes as it sold 14,217 new Ford cars in combined domestic wholesales and exports; this was a 51 percent increase on sales compared to last September, which meant it was the best sales month in the country's history for Ford.
Ford India’s domestic wholesales grew by 37 percent with 10,640 units sold this September compared to 7,794 last September, while 3,577 vehicles were exported in the month.
Vinay Piparsania, Ford India’s executive director of Marketing, Sales and Service, adds, “Despite prevailing difficult economic conditions, we are excited to see our products finding greater acceptance among customers that is mirrored in our sales.”
