New Year, new car

At the start of the New Year we all make resolutions and some people’s resolution is to buy a new car.

If you are considering buying new or used cars in Dorset or from another part of the UK then you need to be aware that Ford are set to release a number of new models this year.

Ford is one of the most popular car makers in the world and it has been setting the pace in the UK for car sales over the past 39 successive years and this is set to continue with the release of three new models in 2016.

Here we guide you through the three new Ford cars that are set to be released and get the thoughts of some of the experts.

Ford Ka

The new Ford Ka is a hugely popular model and the city car will once again focus on value for money for its customers, but once again big things are expected from the Ford car.

The Ford Owners Club, said, “Where the previous model has always been somewhat overshadowed by its hugely successful Fiesta sibling, the new model is going to be a stand-alone product from Ford, unlike the last one which was a joint effort with Fiat.

“Thanks to a scaled down version of the Fiesta's excellent platform, we're expecting big things from the 2016 Ford KA.”

According to Auto Express the Ford Ka is set for a new name and the new model could be called the Ka Plus.

In an article about the Ford Ka, Auto Express, say, “The thinking behind the move is that the third-generation city car will be a very different proposition to the trendy, sharp-handling original car which debuted the badge in the late nineties.”

The five-door new Ford Ka (or Ford Ka Plus) model will be released in the summer and is expected to have a starting price of around £8,000.

Ford Edge

Another new model from Ford that is being released in the UK for the first-time this year is the Ford Edge, which is expected to lead the SUV boom for Ford in 2016.

The Edge is the largest SUV in Ford’s line-up and with the automaker expecting to sell 200 per cent more SUV models in 2016 than it has previously, this model is set to be at the forefront of this push.

In a ride review by the Auto Express they said, “The Ford Edge has made a strong first impression, as it looks like it could have the interior quality and refinement of its premium rivals, but without the price tag
to match. Crucially, it’s likely to be more practical, too, with a big boot, plenty of legroom and impressive tech inside.”

The Ford Owners Club think that the Ford Edge will be perfect for the UK and that its price tag represents good value within the SUV market.

They said “bringing the Ford Edge to the UK may be another product of Ford's ‘One Ford’ global strategy just like the Mustang, but it seems as if Ford's new flagship SUV has been positioned just right within the UK market.

“It looks great and with a starting price of £29,995 it undercuts mid-size premium SUV rivals whilst offering more space and excellent levels of standard equipment. This could well be a big seller for Ford.”

The Ford Edge is officially hitting roads across the UK in spring 2016.

Ford Focus RS

The 2016 Ford Focus RS model is the third generation of the RS family and this year’s model gets an all-wheel drive.

Ford Owners Club added “the 3rd generation Focus RS has a hard act to follow after its hugely popular predecessor with Volvo sourced 5-cylinder engine and aggressive styling.

“It looks as if Ford have thrown everything they've got at this car though - an uprated 350PS version of the 2.3 litre EcoBoost found in the Mustang paired with a new intelligent all-wheel drive system meaning this could be the performance car bargain of the moment. With a starting price of just £29,995, you won't find a bigger bang for your buck anywhere right now.”

The new Ford Focus RS model is now on sale at Ford car dealers in Somerset and across the rest of Britain, with deliveries of the first models expected later this year.

In an Auto Express review of the car, the specialist car magazine said “Ford has given the new Focus RS sports-car-rivalling power with a turbocharged 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine. This will help it go onto a headline-grabbing 165mph top speed, with 0-62mph dispatched in just 4.7 seconds. Make no mistake, the new RS will be one seriously quick car.”

The Focus RS’ new four-wheel-drive system means that the car will have the finest traction and will be able to deal with the car’s 2.3-litre engine. The Ecoboost turbo engine in this year’s RS will also be in the new model of the Mustang.

The Ford Focus RS will not just be available in the UK, but for the first-time will be available all over the world.

New Apple CarPlay/Android Auto included in Ford Sync 3

On top of all these new car models being released, Ford has announced that Ford Sync 3 is set to be equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which has been greeted with elation from Ford drivers.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be available on the Sync 3 infotainment system from this year. This new feature means that drivers can bring smartphone technology into their car, such as Siri.

Ford Owners Club think it is a great move from Ford and added, “Ford's Sync 3 in car connectivity system is already a very competent system when compared with some other manufacturers, but offering the system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is a great move by Ford.

“There's no doubt it will prove to be an exciting upgrade for both current owners and new buyers, with tech companies like Apple and Google promising to change the way we interact with our cars in the near future. It's also nice to see Ford offering a choice between the two systems unlike some manufacturers who seem to think that offering only one is a viable solution.”
