New S-Max is Europe Exclusive

There has been some exciting news for European Ford enthusiasts this week, as it was announced that the new S-Max MPV will only be available at Ford car dealers in the continent.

Following the unveiling of the all-new Mondeo at the Detroit Motor Show, it was revealed that the S-Max will not be following in its footsteps by being launched globally. This means that, instead, the car will be specifically developed with the European market in mind. A separate vehicle is expected to be designed for customers in the US.

Although wholesale changes to the new version of the already successful S-Max are unlikely, it will upgrade to a new engine (the same used in the forthcoming Mondeo), and developers will look to emphasise the MPV's continued commitment to combining a sporty style with practicality.

However, if you are planning a visit to a Ford car dealership, don't expect to be able to test-drive the S-Max within months - customers will have to wait until 2014 for this eagerly anticipated new model to be ready for sale.
