New and improved Ford Ranger to arrive next year

Ford has unveiled details on the new Ford Ranger, with the popular 4x4 model gaining a host of new features ahead of its release next year.

To be available from official Ford dealerships in Andover, Salisbury and other areas across southern England from 2016, it’s been confirmed that the new model will feature a host of new upgrades to make it more ‘car-like’ than ever before. While the Ranger has had considerably less popularity in the UK compared to the USA, sales of the model have risen by 40 per cent in 2014 compared to the year before.

Another great addition is the inclusion of the heralded Ford-SYNC system in the dashboard, with the navigation and infotainment system sure to offer great pleasure for both driver and passenger alike. Also making a welcome appearance in the cabin is a 240-volt power socket, perfect for charging everything from laptops to mobile phones.

The most efficient Ranger yet

In terms of the offering under the bonnet, the Ranger now comes with the 3.2L Duratorq five-cylinder diesel engine, which can produce 198bhp. The advanced engine results means that fuel consumption is cut by an impressive 18 per cent. It is also available in a 158bhp 2.2L model, as well as the base model, which sports 128bhp.

The drive quality has also been massively improved, with the new electric power steering system and longer gear ratios, combined with the retuned suspension, resulting in fantastic handling.

Despite bringing even more luxury into the model, this hasn’t impacted on the outstanding off-road capabilities that the Ranger has become renowned for over the years.
