National Grid and Ford extend LCV contract
National Grid, the gas distribution and supply company, has long been a loyal partner with Ford UK, and that relationship will be continuing, as Ford has recently signed a new contract to provide a new fleet of 200 new Transit Custom Vans for the company’s engineers to use as they do their important work, maintaining the supply network.
The 200 new vehicles will be added to the already existing fleet of 3,550 vehicles, most of which are Ford vehicles.
National Grid’s new line-up of Fords will consist of the new Transit Custom ECOnetics model of light commercial vehicles. The vans will have the benefit of the Dagenham-built 2.2 liter TDCi 100PS diesel engine, and will be customized with special racking systems, lighting systems, and first aid equipment. National Grid will be relying on the 200 new Ford vehicles specifically for emergency service calls, as well for day-to-day services provided by their maintenance and engineering staff, including repairing metering equipment.
