More details of the new Ford Focus emerge

More details of the 2014 Ford Focus have been made available, with the new look of the compact car favourite turning heads across the automotive market.

Three years after its third generation was launched, the motoring giant decided to give the flagship model a facelift both inside and out, with the host of styling and technological changes plain to see with the latest Ford Focus.

Considered as among the finest models of the last 50 years, the Focus is regarded as one of the greatest triumphs by Ford and has received a trophy cabinet full of awards since it was first unveiled back in 1998.

We revealed in a report last month that the model could arrive sporting a wider single-piece grille, which together with a re-profiled bumper is designed to help the Focus sport a more aggressive look. It is thought that the bonnet and front wings will also be altered, although with the aesthetics still being camouflaged by the motor company, no-one can yet be certain.

The most significant change on the inside is to the dashboard, with a sea of complex buttons and levers being replaced by a simplified layout to enhance the experience of both driver and passenger.

In terms of the power, there will be the additions of the 1.5L diesel and 1.5L EcoBoost petrol engines being made available to customers. These will join the 1.0L EcoBoost, the 1.6L or 2.0L TDCI and the 2.0L EcoBoost to bring the most diverse engine line up ever seen for the model.

The official unveiling for the 2014 model is set to take place at the Geneva Motor Show in March, with the new Focus expected to become available direct from official Ford dealers shortly after.
