Maximum safety rating awarded to Ford Focus Electric

There has been more good news for UK Ford car dealers who will be stocking the brand new, fully electric edition of the Focus when it is released here later this year, as it was recently awarded the maximum safety rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) body in the US.

This groundbreaking family car, which has been available in North America since April 2012, has shown that its designers are not just concerned with reducing emissions and improving fuel economy, with this five star rating demonstrating how much of an emphasis Ford continues to place on safety, whatever type of vehicle they are producing.

This latest announcement is sure to be greeted with much enthusiasm by motoring fanatics around the world, with the car's now proven high safety credentials coming on top of the Focus Electric already being named as the most economical mainstream car now available in the US.

With official US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) figures putting the economy levels of this new model at 110 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) for city journeys and 99 MPGe on smoother motorway trips, along with the impressive Overall Vehicle Score it has gained in the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) tests, the pioneering Ford seems to offer the best of all worlds to both drivers and passengers.

The alternatively fuelled Focus scored highly because of a number of innovative features which have been included as standard in the vehicle, including front and side airbags with tailored individual deployment, electronic stability control, an anti-theft engine immobiliser, and a four-wheel anti-lock braking system.

The UK release of the Focus Electric is widely anticipated by motorists nationwide but, until that date is upon us, there are many great deals that can currently be found on highly efficient new and used Ford cars alike in the South West and beyond.
