M-Sport Ford Fiesta RS WRC at Rally Finland

The revised M-Sport Ford Fiesta RS WSC has made its Rally Finland debut this week with home rally driver Mikko Hirvonen at the wheel.

Having unveiled the new-look M-Sport and Ford partnership Fiesta, the car is making its debut in a challenging environment at the World Rally Championship on Rally Finland, finishing this weekend on the 3rd August. Of driving the car at the event, Hirvonen said that he was looking forward to getting back to home soil.

"The car looks great and I'm sure the fans will agree"

While the Fiesta RS WRC is not one of the new Ford cars on the market, the new facelift brings it in line with the road-going edition. Hirvonen had nothing but praise for the new-look Ford before the rally, saying in this article, "I am really looking forward to Rally Finland - every year it is the highlight of the season for me. We'll also have the new facelift on the competition cars for the first time next week which is very exciting. The car looks great and I'm sure the fans will agree when they see it flying through the forests."

The former partnership between Cumbria-based auto racing team M-Sport and Ford to bring out the new Fiesta model is one that will be tested under the Finnish driver, who won the rally in a Ford back in 2009. He hopes to see similar success this weekend - "I'd like to go for the win".

Rally Finland puts both car and driver to the test and while the car remains un-changed under the surface, all eyes will be on Hirvonen to see how far he can push the M-Sport/Ford collaboration in a competitive setting.

While only the lucky few will be trialling out the new-look rally car this weekend, Rally Finland may just inspire you to go and take one of the new speedy Fords down at the Ford car dealership in Hampshire for a test run.
