High September car sales surprise market
Official sales of new cars around the UK over the last month proved to be significantly higher than had been expected by industry experts according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
With national and global economic conditions remaining unstable, many had predicted that purchases of Ford cars for sale and models from other manufacturers would be much lower than was eventually the case but September, in fact, proved to be the second best month of the year in terms of units sold so far this year, behind only March; at 359,612, the total number of new vehicles brought onto the road also represented an 8.2 per cent increase compared with the same period last year.
Defying market expectations, sales of both new and used Ford cars proved to be particularly strong throughout September, which the SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt believes is an indication that confidence is once again starting to improve amongst motoring customers, largely thanks to an increased interest in fuel-efficient technologies.
