Galaxy of features impresses Motability user Maurice

Motability scheme user Maurice Hardy has just picked up his third Motability car from Andover Ford – after the process was delayed as he moved through an assessment to take him to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) from his previous Disability Living Allowance (DLA).

“I know how worrying it is for Motability users who are required to go through the assessment process and mine started just after I had ordered the Galaxy last December,” said the Andover businessman.

“Under the rules of the scheme, I could order the car as I had an indefinite DLA award. But my condition has worsened so, bearing in mind that I was supposed to report a change in circumstance, I applied to move across to PIP.

“This involved a lengthy form and a personal assessment by a health professional and then the award decision came through just as I was going on holiday.

“Nick Martell at Andover Ford was really patient, delaying my collecting the car until I got back and then coming in on his day off for the handover – what fabulous service! Motability were also brilliant as they extended the lease on my old S-MAX by six months to cover the assessment period.

“I had intended to have another S-MAX, which would have been my third and I’d even made a video about it for Foray, but the advance payments on Galaxy Titanium X meant I could have all the specification I absolutely needed. I added a heated steering wheel for a bargain £125 as my hands and feet get really cold.

“The car is great to drive and the ceramic leather trim also brought massaging and cooled seats for which I paid extra. Combined with the standard panoramic roof, it will be like having an air-conditioned conservatory with personal masseur everywhere I go. Although I’d rather have perfect mobility, I’ll accept the little luxuries in part compensation!”
