Ford unveil brand new smartphone app
The Ford Motor Company has released a brand new smartphone app, one that can offer an incredible amount of information to do with your vehicle.
Called the MyFord Mobile app, it is free for all Ford drivers who use both iPhones and Android devices and it’s a tool that is sure to enhance the experiences of drivers of brand new Ford vans and cars up and down the country in the near future.
Announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, it is able to tell you how far you are away from the nearest petrol station and how far your vehicle is able to drive with the remaining fuel in the vehicle. The distance remaining takes into account the user’s driving style, meaning you can see where you can improve your driving to increase fuel consumption.
It’s also handy if you have lost your vehicle, as it is able to locate where you parked your vehicle and show it on a map on your smartphone.
MyFord Mobile can also be used to let drivers remotely access their vehicle, meaning they can adjust the temperature controls, engage the heated windscreen and plenty of other actions before they even leave the house. The app is first being offered on the Focus Electric, although other models are likely to benefit from the technology in the coming years.
The unveiling of MyFord Mobile serves as a great example of how Ford are continually pushing the boundaries of technology, with these pioneering studies helping to enrich the experience for drivers right across the Ford fleet.
