Ford UK Design Their Smallest Engine

The Ford Motor Company has just unveiled their smallest engine yet: a three cylinder 1.0 litre system.  The engine has been designed by Ford's UK division and is set to be released within the 2012 Ford Focus from next year.

This engine will be the third EcoBoost system designed by Ford and will be joining its other versions, the 1.6 and 2.0 sizes. Even though the new engine was designed in a joint effort between engineers at Ford's Dagenham and Dunton plants, it will be produced at the recently developed factory based in Cologne. The French plant has seen a recent £110 million investment by Ford and is expected to produce over 350,000 of the new engine units per year.

If you are interested in a vehicle containing the new engine, you will have to wait until 2012 to be able to find new Ford cars cars for sale with it fitted in at your nearest Ford car dealers
