Ford Transit and Transit Custom vans boast new EcoBlue engine
The new Ford EcoBlue diesel engine has been unveiled in new Ford Transit and Transit Custom commercial vehicles.
Consumers heading to Ford commercial van dealers in Poole and across the rest of Britain will be able to benefit from better performing vans and lower costs from mid-2016 as the vehicles will boast the new 2.0-litre diesel engines.
Ford has revealed the new engines improve fuel efficiency by up to 13 per cent compared to the older 2.2-litre TDCi engine and will deliver up to two-year/60,000km variable service intervals for operators.
Cleaner, quieter and safer engines
The new 2.0-litre Ford EcoBlue diesel engine went through 2.4 million miles of durability testing and passed with flying colours.
Speaking to the Ford Motor Company Media Center, Pete Reyes, who is Ford of Europe’s head of commercial vehicles, said, “The challenge was to take our best-selling Transit and make it cheaper to operate, improve performance, cleaner in terms of emissions, quieter in the cabin, safer and even more durable.
“That’s exactly what we did with the new Transit and Transit Custom with the all-new Ford EcoBlue engine.”
The new engines will be released in time for the Euro Stage VI emission standard changes, which will be released in September 2016. This new regulation will require light duty vehicles to reduce NOx emissions by 55 per cent.
The engines uses the latest technologies in fuel injection, turbocharging, structural design and combustion systems. These new technologies mean improvements in performance, operating refinement and fuel efficiency.
Ford Transit and Transit Custom vans will also benefit from improved driver assistance technologies later in 2016.
These new driver assistance technologies include Side Wind Stabilisation and Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection. Later on in the year, drivers will also be able to choose a six-speed automatic gearbox instead of a manual one with their Transit and Transit Custom models.
