Ford stays top of the new car pops
Ford has continued its success in the UK car market during April, remaining the only maker to have three cars in the Top 10 for both the month and the year.
Fiesta dominates the charts as the most popular car in the UK by a long way but both Focus and Kuga are also performing strongly, clearly demonstrating Ford’s appeal in the family car and SUV arenas, too.
During April, the UK car market adjusted itself to show a rise of 10.41 per cent over April last year but Ford saw its sales rise by 24.29 per cent, reflecting its strong appeal to private buyers.
“The market adjustment came as a result of diesel sales showing a sharp drop-off last year as buyers raced to beat road tax increases that came into effect on April 1, causing an upward surge in the March sales,” comments Tom Croft, group sales manager for Foray.
“But Ford has a massive appeal to buyers of petrol cars thanks to its award-winning EcoBoost engines – in fact here at Foray we no longer order small diesel cars for stock because everyone generally wants petrol power.
“The market for alternative fuel cars is also rising. Ford has the Mondeo Hybrid and is among the leading researchers of viable alternatives, particularly electric vehicles.”
