Ford shows Virtual Reality design Process to students
One of Fords engineers has been explaining and demonstrating just how advanced the motoring manufacturers design procedures have become for both their products and even facilities. Allison Stephens, spoke to university students regarding the retooling and redeveloping of one of its plants in Ohio, using virtual reality technology to plan the layouts.
The work is due to go ahead in 2014, but preparation is already underway including developers producing a virtual reality model of the plant along with its assembly lines, production systems, and even its van storage areas and completed vehicles.
The travelling exhibition also lets university students don VR goggles and gloves to get up close to digital versions of new Ford cars for sale.
