FORD SET TO CREATE BLAST-PROOF VANS FOR THE MILITARY

Not happy with just being one of the largest motoring manufacturers in the world, the Ford Motor Company have began a push to become defence contractors, and in particular for the production of blast-proof vehicles.
With a potential $54 million contract up for grabs, Ford are certainly not pulling out any stops in their bids to seize a contract that will see them incorporate commercial van designs and adapt them into possible light tactical vehicle prototypes.
Last November, Ford estimated that it would cost them in the region of $400 million to design and build production ready prototypes, without the usual government funding that is provided for research. They also commented that the vehicles would be able to provide better protection, with the added bonus of being both more affordable and much lighter in weight.
This is just one of many new ventures that the Ford Motor Company is currently involved in. If you are interested in Purchasing new Ford vans, such as the Transit van, why not head to your nearest van dealer such as Foray Commercial?
