Ford Sales Results for July
Though overall car sales in the United Kingdom were up by over 12 percent during the month of July when compared to the same month in 2012, and Ford led that increase in sales with an overall increase in sales of 38.2 percent, the sale of commercial vehicles in the UK fell during the same period of time.
The sales statistics were released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), and showed that Ford’s total vehicle sales represented over 16 percent of the UK market share for July, reflecting its highest percentage of market in the last four years. Leading the manufacturer’s sales were the Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus.
In the commercial vehicle area, monthly sales figures dropped by 1.6 percent as compared to July of 2012, though for year 2013 overall is still showing a positive trend with an uptick of 4.3 percent. As for Ford’s share of the medium commercial vehicle market, it moved up incrementally in July from 31.6 percent to 31.8 percent over last year. The Ford Transit is the top-selling of the commercial vehicles in the one, two and 3.5-6 ton market, and was the 7th highest selling vehicle in the UK overall.
