Ford is top in 2013 sales Fiesta

New car sales figures for 2013 have just been released - with Ford's Fiesta and Focus dominating the market.

The Fiesta achieved 121,929 sales during the year while the Focus was runner-up at 87,350. The Fiesta outsold its nearest supermini rival by 44.7 per cent with the Focus climbing 28.3 per cent above its closest competitor.

The overall market rose by 10.77 per cent, virtually matching the growth achieved by the whole of the Ford range while Foray Motor Group surged ahead by 19 per cent compared with 2012.

"Many people still mistakenly think Ford achieves its car sales by flooding the fleet market but private buyers predominantly drive the brand's sales and the same can be said of the Foray Motor Group," explained Tom Croft, sales manager for Foray, which has a number of Ford dealerships across the south west of England.

"The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders reports that a change in buying patterns has been driven by demand for smaller, more fuel-efficient models, as well as the greater versatility offered by vehicles in the Dual Purpose and MPV segments.

"This exactly mirrors the recent developments within the Ford range, set to expand further as the Fiesta-based EcoSport arrives in the Spring. Ford and Foray are performing well because we are reading the market and providing quality product supported by first class service and all at competitive prices.

"Commercial vehicles have also done well for us in 2013, with new Transit Custom and the launch of the new Connect meaning 2014 is looking good.

"As we approach the registration change on March 1, there are some excellent deals to be enjoyed by customers at every Foray showroom."
