Ford Focus is the best-selling car in the world

The Ford Focus has been unveiled as the world's best-selling car in 2013, fantastic news for the Ford Motor Company and further highlighting the great appeal that new Ford cars hold across multiple markets.

It comes after the publishing of a report from LMC Automotive, showing that over 1.1 million models of the Ford Focus were sold during 2013, almost one hundred thousand more than the second-placed Toyota Corolla.

The Focus has been one of the many success stories of the Ford Motor Company, with the model designed as a replacement for the ageing Escort. Since it was first unveiled in 1998 it has gone on to be a huge success. Currently in its third generation, its fantastic value for money and high build quality has helped to maintain its popularity within markets all over the world; it's thought that Ford have sold more than 12 million models since its launch. It has also proved appealing to a host of famous faces, with Pope Francis known to use a Ford Focus.

The company have recently confirmed that a new model will be available by 2017, meaning that the Focus will be seen on our roads for many years into the future.

Fiesta named in top ten

The report offered further good news for Ford; the Fiesta was confirmed as the world's eighth best-selling model after 705,287 models were shifted during the course of 2013.
