Ford Developing Hi-Tech Lightweight Materials for Future Models

Although carbon fibre technology has been used within the automotive industry for many years now, it has not really been used in the manufacturing of mass market vehicles. Well, that was the situation up until this month when Ford Motor Company announced they will be developing the hi-tech carbon fibre materials to be used across their range of cars.

Ford says carbon fibre is five times stronger than steel yet is only one-third the weight, so the savings in weight for a vehicle could be significant. This would effective in not only saving fuel over the lifetime of a vehicle, but also the strength of carbon fibre parts and panels would be a major advantage.

If you are looking at new Ford cars for sale in the future, you might find cars in your local Ford car dealerships which are fitted with carbon fibre parts and components.
