Ford confirm biggest profit in a decade

The Ford Motor Company has confirmed its biggest profit in a decade, proving that the Blue Oval badge is just as popular as ever.

First established back in 1903 with the release of the Model T, the Ford Motor Company is now one of the most recognisable of automotive names and its fleet of vehicles are held in high regard within their respective fields.

The positive financial figures state that Ford recorded an $8.6 million pre-tax profit, a result which has been helped by phenomenal sales figures in Asia, Europe and the USA. It has been a particularly impressive year for Ford here in the UK, with the manufacturer being named as the best-selling brand for the 37th consecutive year.

The overall sales of 310,685 indicated a 10.26 per cent rise on the previous 12 months, helping it take a 13.72 per cent market share. While these figures are only relative to dealership purchased vehicles, it is likely that used Ford vehicles are still also very popular within the second-hand market.

Success to herald greater investment

Ford vehicles were also three of the top six best-selling models of the year, with the Ford Fiesta, Focus and Transit taking 1st, 2nd and 6th place respectively; the Transit was also named as the UK's top-selling commercial vehicle of the year.

It is likely that the firm will use these funds to further invest in their range of new technologies available on new models, meaning that more customers can discover FordSYNC, AppLink and the Ford ‘Active Park Assist' when visiting certified Ford dealers in the future.

These great figures also look to continue into the future, with Ford forecasting a pre-tax profit of between $7-8 billion for the year ahead.
