Foray creates interactive infographic about history of the Fiesta

The Ford Fiesta first hit British roads back in 1976 and has since become one of the most popular cars in the UK.

The long history of the Ford Fiesta means that the car has seen many changes since its humble beginnings, and to celebrate this magnificent car we have created a scrolling interactive infographic on the history of the Fiesta.

The early beginnings of the Fiesta

Back in 1976 the Fiesta MK1 was released and in doing so was the first front-wheel-drive car from Ford that was made available across the globe. The car had a top speed of 81mph and went from 0-60mph in just over 19 seconds.

The scrolling parallax from Foray also goes into detail about the Ford Fiesta XR2, which was released in 1980, and the Fiesta MK2, a car that was essentially a facelift of the MK1 but was the first Fiesta model that featured a diesel engine.

Into the 90s

The Fiesta MK3 was manufactured from 1989-1997 and the upgraded car came along with two extra doors as customers had the choice of a 3-door or 5-door hatchback. The Foray Motor Group scrolling parallax infographic reveals that this model was voted What Car? Magazine’s ‘Car of the Year’ in 1989.

The new Fiesta MK4 was released in the mid-90s and the car was so popular that it became Britain’s best-selling car from 1996-98.

Into the noughties

The Fiesta MK5 brought the Ford Fiesta into the new millennium and the model featured a new look that was inspired by the Ford Focus. The look worked as the car was the best-selling supermini in the UK in 2001.

In 2002 the Fiesta MK6 was unveiled and the hugely popular model became the first Fiesta to be sold in Australia and Asia. The Fiesta was also the first to have ABS and passenger airbags as standard.

The new Ford Fiesta car, the Fiesta MK7, has been so popular since being released back in 2008 that it has won a number of awards including the Car of the Year at the What Car? Awards in 2009 and the Best Supermini at the Auto Express Awards in 2014.

In 2014 the Fiesta became the best-selling car of all time in Britain after selling 4,115,000 models in 38 years.
