Focus ST becomes top selling hot hatch in Europe

The Focus ST has been met with great acclaim by various sections of the automotive media since it was released in summer last year, and these positive reviews have now clearly translated into impressive sales, with the car fending off competition from several other well known sporty hatchback models to clinch the number one selling spot in the continent.

Throughout Europe between October and December, the new Focus ST shifted a total of 1,894 units, which led to it boasting a 44 per cent share of the overall hot hatchback market. As well as being the biggest selling vehicle of its kind in the UK, it also topped the charts in Norway, Denmark, Hungary, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland and the Netherlands, as well as performing strongly in a number of other countries where it was made available.

Quickly emerging as one of the most popular current Ford cars for sale, this groundbreaking edition of the Focus has turned many heads with its imposing presence, fast acceleration and, perhaps most importantly, its affordable price tag. Roelant de Waard, the vice president of Marketing, Sales and Service for Ford of Europe, recently declared himself as 'one of a fast-growing group of excited ST drivers', and reserved high praise for its 'unrivalled balance of performance and usability'.

Previous models of the Focus ST are readily available from used Ford car dealers around the South West, for those drivers who are looking to buy on a budget, providing a driving experience that is almost as rewarding and efficient as that of its successor; as de Waard commented, 'you really have to drive it yourself' to fully appreciate all that the ST has to offer.
