Focus and Fiesta named as top two selling used cars
The leading information services analysts Experian have just published the results of their latest Used Car Sales Index research, and the survey has found that used Ford car dealers are by far the most popular place to go for buying a top quality second hand vehicle.
The research also revealed that the third quarter of 2012, which accounts for the months between July and September, also saw sales of used cars rise to their highest point so far this year, with an impressive total of 1,757,320 units of this kind sold throughout the UK during this period; this, Experian said, marks an increase of 0.5 per cent on last year's third quarter results.
What made for the best reading for Ford car dealers all over the country, however, was the fact that the classic Focus and Fiesta models came in at numbers one and two respectively in Experian's top ten list of highest selling domestic vehicles from July to September.
The sales return of the Focus was especially pleasing for those showrooms offering used editions, as its total transactions rose to no less than 78,606, helping it to leapfrog the Fiesta from third into the first place that was previously held by its brand mate. This is not to say that the Fiesta underperformed, however, with 78,243 units of this consistently popular car leaving the UK's forecourts.
Ford also achieved significant success further down the 'best sellers' list, as well, with the Mondeo and Ka being named as the ninth and tenth most purchased used models. This was further confirmation of the fact that the British public place a great deal of trust in the performance and economy levels of the vehicles produced by this historic company; in fact, with four different cars in the top ten, the Michigan manufacturers were easily the most successful of all the makes mentioned.
