Fiesta Active ready for the school of hard knocks

Many cars live out their lives in the school of hard knocks and now Britain’s best-selling car has toughened up to take on the fight.

Active families will love the new Fiesta Active, which comes in three different trim levels and has its body equipped to deflect life’s tougher moments.

Special trim all round, including vulnerable wheel arches, lets you know this is the first of Ford’s tough new Active range to arrive – it will soon be joined by KA+ Active and, later this year, the Focus Active.

But the Fiesta Active is also as physically tough as it looks thanks to its three selectable drive modes, Eco, Normal, and Slippery which are enabled via the sensors already built into the car’s electronic stability programme (ESP) and hill start assist and let the car cope with difficult on- and off-road  conditions.

However, it’s equally well equipped to deal with on road conditions, with safety boosted by such clever kit as lane-keeping technology, tyre pressure monitoring, and the Quickclear heated windscreen that helps ensure visibility is at its best on cold or damp days. The new Fiesta – BBC Top Gear magazine’s Supermini of the Year and Carbuyer’s Car of the Year – is already one of the safest small cars on the market with a five-star Euro NCAP rating.

Fiesta Active also features dramatic and dynamic colour schemes, and the option of a two-part panoramic sliding roof on the Active 1 and Active X models; the Fiesta Active B&O PLAY stands out with a distinctive black roof with black roof rails plus a B&O PLAY premium audio system with 360-degree sound and 10 speakers.

Active families also tend to be environmentally aware so Fiesta Active buyers will be impressed by the award-winning three-cylinder EcoBoost 1.0-litre petrol engine, offered in 85PS, 100PS, 125PS and 140PS, delivering from 105g/km CO2 emissions and driving the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. There is also a choice of Ford’s 85PS 1.5-litre TDCi engine with CO2 from 96g/km or a higher 120PS output.

The new Fiesta Active is now arriving in Foray Motor Group showrooms with Active 1 priced at £17,790, with B&O PLAY at £19,190, and Active X at £20,290. Come in and see what all the fuss is about – and if you really want a tough replacement for your battered old runabout remember that with Ford Scrappage scheme still running, qualifying cars registered before 31st December, 2010, could be worth a big £2,000 trade-in contribution to your new Ford.
