EUROPEAN COMMISSION INCLUDES AEB IN VAN GUIDELINES

It has been announced by the European Commission that the presence of Autonomous Emergency Breaking (AEB) systems in commercial vehicles is to be strongly encouraged through the legislative body's official guidelines for the first time.
Use of the technology will be required to meet European Type Approval from November of next year, meaning that vans achieving a Euro NCAP five-star safety rating will be particularly difficult unless they have AEB installed at the production stage.
A highly sophisticated advancement, it makes use of radar, video and laser technology to detect oncoming collisions with amazing speed, before preparing the breaks, so that a quick emergency stop can be carried out.
Unlike the models of many other commercial manufacturers, new Ford vans have come equipped with AEB technology for some time, meaning that anyone purchasing a Transit van or similar vehicle from this most respected of automotive companies can already benefit from the added security that the system provides.
