EcoBoost equipped racing car shines in time trials

Ford has certainly not rested on its laurels since releasing its award winning EcoBoost engines, the family of turbocharged, direct injection petrol engines. Since the engines have been available in a select number of Ford cars for sale in Europe, the engines have won a string of awards from motoring companies and journalists.

The engines offer drivers 20% better fuel economy and 15% less emissions than engines of the same power, something that has made the engines one of the top chosen options for many new Ford car buyers.

Just recently, Ford took an EcoBoost equipped Formula Ford race car to the famous Nürburgring track in Germany to showcase the engine's possibilities. The street legal racer was equipped with a three cylinder, 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine and scored the 11th fastest ever lap of the test track, completing it in just 7 minutes, 22 seconds.

The EcoBoost equipped car beat larger horsepower vehicles such as the Lamborghini Aventador and Ferrari Enzo, but even though the Ford racer is street legal you won't find it in your nearest Ford car dealers. However, the engine itself is available throughout Europe and will be introduced to America in the near future.
