DAD’S ARMY FORD VAN GOES UP FOR AUCTION

A very unique Ford van will be coming up for auction soon, one that has a very strong link to British comedy.
Many will remember the British comedy ‘Dad's Army' fondly, centred on a group of Home Guard soldiers during the second world in the fictional town of Walmington-on-Sea. Well, you could end up picking up a piece of comedy history belonging to the popular sitcom as one of the most recognisable vehicles comes up for auction: Lance Cpl Jones's butchers van.
The 1953 Ford box Van is emblazoned with the butcher's logo complete with special portholes on the side and the roof, created for the Dad's army characters to poke their rifles through in-case of an enemy invasion.
The Box van is certainly no comparison to new Ford vans such as Ford transit vans, but it is expected to sell for between £20,000 and £30,000 due to its iconic comedy history.
