Brakes Off On Drew’s New Career
Former motocross rider Drew Davis is hoping there won't be so much rough and tumble in his latest motorised career move.
For Drew (20) has joined the sales team at Andover Ford after giving up competitive motor bike riding following a major accident. But he doesn't think the crash will put the brakes on his new job, far from it.
He was introduced to the Weyhill Road showroom by sales manager Ben Garrick and sales colleague Matt Harmer by being put behind the wheel of the powerful Ford Focus ST, although his everyday transport will be a Ford Ka!
Drew is one of 13 new sales recruits to the Foray Motor Group, parent company of Andover Ford, as it expands during 2010 after acquiring a new dealership in Shaftesbury to get the year off to a strong start.
And already the sales newcomer has noticed there's still enthusiasm among car buyers even after the end of the scrappage scheme in March.
"Drew is settling in well and has been kept busy as scrappage ended because we have had an influx of buyers trading in much newer models to upgrade to the latest Fords," said Ben.
"This also means he'll be getting broader experience helping customers choose from the wider selection of used car stock the trade-in deals have brought to us."
Drew says while the future's not as orange as the Focus ST currently in the showroom, it's still bright and looking very enjoyable.
"Many 20 year olds would give anything to get a brand new car as part of their job and having the fashionable Ka that many young drivers find so appealing is a real bonus," commented Drew. "I may have fallen off my motorbike but I've landed on my feet with this job!"
