Transit Custom Repeat Winner of “What Van?” Contest
The Ford Transit Custom has been named Van of the Year in the annual competition promoted by “What Van?” the leading publication devoted to light commercial vehicles. The 2014 honor marks the first time that the same vehicle has won the award two years in a row. According to the selection committee, the Transit Custom’s ability to hold on to the prize was based on its interior quality, equipment, sales success and the overall driving experience that it provides.
The award was presented by Paul Barker, What Van? Editor, and Mark Lovett of Leaseplan, who was a sponsor of the event, which took place at Zaiki, a esteemed restaurant located in Kensington.
Ford also received honors in the light van category for its Fiesta Van, as well as for best pickup for the Ranger.
According to Barker, “It was a difficult decision to break with tradition and give our biggest award to a van that was victorious the previous year, but the Transit Custom’s impact on the light commercial vehicle market means the success is warranted. It’s been a deservedly successful first year for the Custom, a vehicle that has moved the sector on in a whole series of ways.”
