Online configurations for the Ford Edge surpass 60,000 in the UK

Ford has revealed that over 60,000 Ford Edge models have been configured on the car and van manufacturer’s website since January 2016.

Now that the Ford Edge SUV will be released in the UK and will soon be sold in Ford van dealerships in Salisbury and across the rest of the UK, it has been revealed many consumers have been configuring their Ford Edge vehicles ahead of its release.

Figures from Ford show the flagship Sport model made up 49 per cent of Ford configurations, whilst in contrast only 11 per cent of entire configurations made through Ford were for the lead-in Zetec series.

The most popular colours for the new Ford Edge were Oxford White (16 per cent), Shadow Black (14 per cent) and Electric Spice (8 per cent).

Ford’s data also revealed that the average price of Ford Edge models being configured within the UK was £35,000.

Fast start for the Ford Edge

The release of the new Ford Edge SUV was toasted by Ford van and SUV dealers in Andover and at other dealerships, but even the fast and successful start to the Ford Edge era was not expected by many.

Andy Barratt, who is chairman and managing director for Ford of Britain, told the Ford Motor Company Media Center, “The UK team and our extensive Ford dealer network are very excited by this exceptionally fast start for the new Ford Edge.

“With our existing EcoSport and Kuga SUV models enjoying healthy sales growth, there isn’t a better time to launch our new flagship Edge SUV.”

The Ford Edge will be released in Ford’s UK dealerships this summer and will be available to buy from just £29,995. The release of the Edge also means Ford will be increasing its SUV family, which already boasts the Ford Kuga and EcoSport.
