Admirers of the range of new Ford vans currently available will by now be used to the Transit Custom and other vehicles produced by the Michigan manufacturers picking up prizes for their excellent performance, and this list of accolades has just been added to again at the 2012 Fleet Van Awards.
At this ceremony, however, it was not the Transit but the Ford Ranger which received the most recognition, coming away with not one but two prestigious awards. The organisers of the awards were particularly impressed by how far the pick-up truck has come since its previous edition was released, with the highly practical vehicle comfortably seeing off all competition on the night.
Those behind the latest Ranger will be most proud of the fact that it was victorious in the 'Commercial Vehicle of the Year' category, beating a host of well regarded rivals to the prize. With this award secured, it came as little surprise that it also received the gong for 'Pick-up Truck of the Year'.
In an article detailing why the Ranger was so successful in the awards, the pick-up was hailed for its great flexibility and wide range of diesel engines, body styles and equipment grades in particular, as well as the choice that it gives between two and four-wheel drive models.
It was not just the Ranger which triumphed for Ford, however, with the company itself being named as the Green Van Manufacturer of the Year, truly confirming the group's status as one of the up and coming figures in the increasingly carbon-friendly world of commercial motoring. Continuing to provide drivers of its vans in Dorset and beyond with unrivalled fuel efficiency and environmentally sustainable professional transport, Ford have now well and truly established themselves as a leading force in the green LCV field.
