The headlines from the Classic Ford Show
Classic Ford Magazine’s annual event the Classic Ford Show was a hit once again with all in attendance. Taking place at Santa Pod Raceway, the world famous home of European Drag Racing, on the 31st May, the event saw a whole day of Run What Ya Brung (RWYB) on the famous drag strip as well as thousands of the UK’s best car clubs on display.
Regulars of Ford car dealers in Hampshire will have been keen to see the variety of classic Fords at the event, with rally passenger rides, club displays, RWYB and the chance to watch a FireForce 3 Jet Car powering down the strip all a part of the event’s schedule.
Show and Shine
The Show and Shine competition was a highlight that returned to the show this year. All entries had to be classic Ford models circa 25 years and older (pre 1990) and, once accepted into the running, were able to show off in the specially designated paddock area with the chance of winning prizes and the coveted trophy.
Winner of this year’s Show and Shine was Sonny with a beautifully restored Mk2 Escort RS2000. The post on Classic Ford’s Facebook page received over 120 likes, illustrating just what a deserving winner this classic Ford is.
With events starting from 5.30pm on the Saturday 30th May, many spectators and drivers camped at the legendary raceway to fully make the most of the event. With the RWYB down the 1/4 mile strip being an integral part of the show, and as a classic Ford-only event, it has Ford fans from around the country coming to the raceway. Just perhaps leaving the shiny new Focus they bought from local Ford dealers in Somerset the previous week at home!
