This week has seen the release of some great news for the motoring industry as a whole; reports have shown that the light commercial vehicle (LCV) market sector saw an upturn during May, following several months in negative territory.
The figures show that new van registrations in May, compared to the same period last year, showed a 6.7% increase, bringing the total monthly van sales figure to 21,303. The figures have been released by the Society of Motoring Manufacturers and Traders (SMTT), alongside a report on car sales for the month too.
Speaking about the upturn in van sales, the chief executive of the SMTT commented:
"It's too early to know if the change in fortunes for the van market is a sign of things to come, but coupled with the strong truck performance, it is a welcome signal of increased confidence across the commercial vehicle sector."
