Ford commercial vehicle sales surpass six figures for first time since 1989

For the first time since 1989 sales for Ford commercial vehicles have surpassed the 100,000 mark in a full year.

In November, Ford van dealers in Yeovil in Somerset and across the rest of the UK were celebrating this month as it was revealed by the car manufacturer that commercial vehicles for November were at their highest ever level for over 25 years, and over double the number of sales than rival firms.

Ford has now announced that it is expecting 2015 to beat its best-ever year for commercial vehicle sales, which would be 104,721 in 1989.

The sales have been boosted by the fact that the Ford Transit celebrated its 50th birthday and that this year has been the first full year since the Ford Transit range was expanded – the Ford Transit Courier was launched in the middle of 2014.

Ford Transit and Ranger boost sales

Ford UK also reveals that the Ford Ranger and Ford Transit recorded their highest number of sales ever in 2015. The Ford Fiesta van and the Transit Connect also saw sales soar to their highest number since 2008.

Andy Barratt, who is the chairman and managing director for Ford of Britain, said, “The Ford Transit has been a staple commodity for Britain for half a century, and our commercial vehicle line up has never been stronger. Four commercial vehicles now carry the iconic Transit nameplate, and, together with Ranger and Fiesta Van, are on track to deliver our most successful year ever for CV sales.”

Ford van dealers and dealerships in Salisbury are expected to be busy next year as sales for Ford commercial vehicles are expected to continue to rise in 2016 when the car and van manufacturer will be introducing its Euro stage 6 engines next year. This will make them the cleanest vehicles on the road. These engines will be built, designed and developed in the UK.
