Ford celebrates 4.5 million Mondeos sold across Europe
Ford have celebrated a sales milestone for the Mondeo - one of the company's most successful models which recently marked its 20th anniversary. The automotive giant has now recorded its 4.5 millionth sale of the car in Europe, which includes a staggering 1,400,000 transactions here in the UK.
One of the stars of Ford's current fleet, sales of the model began in 1993, and its refreshing design and host of features enabled it to take the large family car market by storm; a year later, the Mondeo was named What Car? Car of the Year. The list of awards it has received has steadily grown over the years, with the Mondeo also picking up the prizes of What Car? Best Estate Car and Best Family Car in recent years.
Having been through four generations, the model has helped to redefine what drivers can expect from their vehicle. A classic example of this was the second generation in 2000, which was one of the first models in its class to feature heated rear seats, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers.
With the Mondeo holding such a stellar reputation, there are high expectations for what the fifth generation has in store - an edition which will be available from Ford dealers all over the country in late 2014. While some of the engines on offer in the model will include the 1.0 EcoBoost, there will also be a Petrol Hybrid Electric version to help it appeal to the growing environmentally-concious driving community.
If you are looking to purchase a new car and are keen to discover why the Mondeo has been top of its class for so many years, why not pay a visit to one of the dealerships operated by the Foray Motor Group? As well as the Mondeo, we have a host of other vehicles from the Ford fleet available, including the Ford Ka, Fiesta and Galaxy.
