Fiesta and Focus among UK’s most popular vehicles

New Ford car sales in the UK have reached record highs during the first half of 2015, with the Ford Fiesta remaining as the most popular vehicle of all.

According to the figures provided by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, the 1,376,889 new cars sold during the period marks a healthy seven per cent increase on the same period last year. It shows that even though used cars are cost-effective, the option of purchasing a brand new car is more popular than ever.

Sales of new cars from Ford and other manufacturers in June were up by 12.9 per cent in comparison to last year, becoming the 40th consecutive month of increases. Overall, the 257,877 new vehicles sold during the month also broke the previous record.

Fiesta outselling nearest rival by 20,000

Available to purchase from official Ford dealers in Hampshire and other areas across the country, the Ford Fiesta was once again the most popular selling model during the given timeframe, with the 71,990 models sold meaning it outsold its nearest competitor – the Vauxhall Corsa – by over 20,000 units. Sales of the vehicle in June peaked at 12,543, considerably higher than the 9,561 Vauxhall Corsa models sold during the same period.

Also of huge popularity was the Ford Focus, with the sale of 45,078 models during the year enough to earn the small family car third place in the rankings ahead of the Volkswagen Golf.
