2013 Diesel Car Awards present Ford with two prizes

No strangers to awards, the Ford Motor Company are once again celebrating success with their latest batch of models, picking up two prizes at the prestigious 2013 Diesel Car Awards ceremony.

The Ford B-MAX, which is widely recognised by the car buying public and industry analysts as the leading car in its sector, picked up the award for best MPV, whilst the sales chart-conquering Ford Fiesta was presented with the best small car prize.

The B-MAX's success represented a strong performance in the MPV category overall for Ford, as it narrowly beat competition from another model by the manufacturer, the C-MAX, to win; the Fiesta, meanwhile, finished ahead of a strong field of similarly sized vehicles.

The awards were not the only success of the occasion for the group, with several other cars in their range given 'highly commended' status in the categories in which they were nominated. The Ford Focus for sale in showrooms across the UK was acknowledged in the estate car class, whilst the Mondeo and the S-MAX were singled out in the large car and large MPV categories respectively.

The editor of the Diesel Car magazine, Ian Robertson, commented that Ford's two victories were thoroughly deserved, describing the B-MAX as 'friendly...fun...clever...capable...zippy' and having 'really good economy'. His praise for the Fiesta, meanwhile, simply concluded that, with this model, the Ford engineers have 'got this car spot on'.

Chairman and managing director at Ford of Britain, Mark Ovenden, described he and his colleagues as 'delighted' at the recognition his company has received, which he said was a fair reflection of the quality of their current range of small cars.

Although these awards were given to the company's new vehicles, drivers also have the option of saving money and purchasing a used Ford Focus or other model, which all received similarly high praise upon their release.
