Record sales for Ford vans in Ireland
Ford vans are proving incredibly popular in Ireland, news which strengthens the reputation of the company’s commercial arm across Europe.
While official Ford van dealers in Andover, Salisbury and other areas across the UK are frequently visited by people interested in purchasing reliable and cost-effective commercial vehicles, such as the Transit and Fiesta, figures released by the Society of Irish Motor Industry show that appeal for vehicles donning the blue oval has grown.
According to the figures, 4,059 new light commercial vehicles from Ford were registered during the month of July – representing a whopping 49 per cent increase compared to the same period just 12 months previous.
In a similar vein to the UK market, the Ford Transit Custom is the most popular selling commercial vehicle in Ireland, with 2,249 unit sales showing a 12 per cent overall market share. The dominance of the Ford Transit Custom is shown in the fact that it has sold 64 per cent more units than its nearest rival model. Also proving popular in the Irish market is the Transit Connect, with the 1,208 unit registrations enough to help the model sit in third place in the best-selling commercial vehicle chart.
First rolling off the production line back in 1965, the Ford Transit was an instant hit and to date more than eight million Ford Transits have been sold. It’s also been the bestselling light commercial vehicle in Europe for over four decades.
