March becomes best-ever month for Ford commercial vehicle sales
Ford has been toasting the success of its commercial vehicles after it was announced that the car and van manufacturer sold 20,877 models in March.
This figure is the all-time best-ever month for commercial vehicle sales. Ford van and car dealerships in Salisbury and across the rest of Britain sold 81,084 vehicles in total during March, which was up from 79,963 during the same period in 2015.
The figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders show that Ford models dominated their respective markets as the Ford Fiesta was the UK’s best-selling car.
The Ford Transit Custom and Ford Transit, which can be found in Ford van dealers in Poole and other dealerships in the UK, were the most-popular and second-most-popular commercial vehicles to buy during March.
In fact, the Ford Fiesta Van, Transit Connect, Transit Courier, Transit Custom, Transit and Ranger were all in the top three selling models of their market segments.
Ford sales figures highest since 2008
Speaking to the Ford Motor Company Media Center, Andy Barratt, who is chairman and managing director of Ford of Britain, said, “Exceeding 80,000 sales in March, the highest monthly volume since 2008, firmly underlines the success of our expanding model range.
“Ford grew its UK total vehicle sales lead for the year to date as the result of sustained investment in our brand, the strongest dealer network in the UK and the delivery of exciting products like the Mustang and the Focus RS, which has been awarded the much coveted Car of the Year by Top Gear magazine. Launches of new Ford vehicles continue with the all-new Edge joining the Kuga and EcoSport in our SUV range."
It is believed the unveiling of new models in Ford’s commercial vehicle family has helped increase sales in March.
