It may not be too long until Ford car dealers around the UK and beyond are selling vehicles which feature EcoBoost engines of up to 1.5 litres in size.
Speaking at a Royal Automobile Club awards ceremony at which the EcoBoost picked up the Dewar Trophy for outstanding British technical achievement, Ford's head of petrol engine development, Andrew Fraser, confirmed that the group are considering introducing the engine to larger cars such as the Galaxy and S-MAX over the next few years.
Stating that the EcoBoost could also reach levels of more than 200bhp in power, Mr Fraser said that these developments were being thought about chiefly because of the increased demand for truly economical transport from emerging and emerged markets, such as India and China.
Both new and used Ford cars already provide excellent rates of efficiency and value for money in general, but the rise of the EcoBoost engine is revolutionising the way in which the manufacturer is seen by motoring enthusiasts around the world.
