Raptor swoops on its pick-up rivals
Everyone knows the Ford Ranger can work hard – now Ford is ready to show how it can play hard, too.
It has chosen the Gamescom trade fair to give the new Ranger Raptor its European debt ahead of its launch into the market in 2019, a move likely to reinforce Ranger’s domination of the European pick-up market and the first time Gamescom has been chosen for a vehicle launch.
Ranger Raptor has been developed by Ford Performance to satisfy the demands of thrill-seeking outdoor enthusiasts, enabling them to tackle the harshest terrain at speed. Naturally, this ability to play even harder will also satisfy those with the most demanding daytime jobs, too.
The new Ford will feature in the Forza Horizon 4 video racing game but its ability to stand hard knocks is a reality thanks to its reinforced chassis made of high-strength steels. Under the bonnet is a bi-turbo Ford 2.0‑litre EcoBlue diesel engine producing 213 PS and 500 Nm of torque that’s sent to all four wheels, wearing specially developed BF Goodrich All-Terrain tyres, through a new 10-speed automatic gearbox with a six setting terrain management system.
