Know your driving licence code

There are new rules governing driving licences in the UK and you need to be aware if you are arranging a courtesy or hire car or van while your own is in for service or repair.

Since June 8, the paper counterpart of the photocard driving licence is no longer applicable. To prove your driving entitlement you now need a printout from DVLA records or a special code that’s valid for 21 days.

Service staff at Foray Motor Group can access the one-use code to access your driving licence records which is important for our own insurers before you take away one of our courtesy cars.

Get Your Code

To get your code, go to https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence and look for the start now button. Before you go online, make sure you have your driving licence number, your National Insurance number, and the postcode on your licence. You can then generate the check code that allows us access to your records. After 21 days the code becomes invalid but it’s best to generate within the shortest time span possible before you come in to us. The code expires once we have used it.
