Ford Wins Yet More Awards.....
Fleet World, the esteemed trade publication that provides invaluable information to decision-makers about every fleet manufacturer in the United Kingdom, has awarded its annual Fleet World Honours for 2013, and once again the manufacturer that led the way was Ford.
Leading the pack was the Ford Transit Custom, which won the title of both Best New Van and Best Medium Van, as well as being recognized as the winner in the category of Innovation. The Ford B-Max was named Design of the Year, and Ford was also recognized as the overall Van Manufacturer of the Year. This marks year number four for Ford’s Transit Custom to receive the publication’s coveted honours; in 2010 it was named Best Small Van, in 2011 it was named Best Medium Van, and last year it won Best Large Van. Considering that Ford is leading the commercial vehicle market in the UK with nearly a quarter share year-to-date, the awards are hardly a surprise, though they are certainly appreciated. Ford of Britain’s fleet director, Phil Hollins, was quoted as saying, “The excellent design, research and development that has gone into the next generation of Ford vehicles is paying off, and I’m delighted that Ford continues to have great products to offer all customers.”
Development and research are certainly a key to the awards that keep on coming in for Ford. Among the points made about the Ford Transit Custom were appreciation of its extended service intervals, an obvious boon to fleet owners that are trying to reduce their ownership costs as well as downtime. In terms of flexibility and meeting customers’ needs, Ford also received high marks for the Transit Custom’s innovative Integrated Roof Rack, SYNC with Emergency Assistance and the Load-Through Bulkhead. Reviewers also praised the inclusion of features usually only found in passenger vehicles, such as rollover mitigation, hill-start assist and electronic stability control.
