Ford Mustang officially coming to UK in 2015

There have been many rumours flying around in recent months, but now it has been officially confirmed that the newest Ford Mustang model will be heading to the UK.

The Ford Mustang EcoBoost is now definitely coming to Britain in early 2015, it was announced at the recent Detroit Auto Show.

The Mustang, which has sold over nine million models worldwide since its 1964 debut, will now be joining the new Ford Focus for sale in the UK and other models such as the Ford Fiesta and Ford Ka on forecourts across the country.

An announcement on the price of the new four-cylinder EcoBoost Mustang has not yet been made, but some experts have stated that they expect the cost of buying one to be in the region of £30,000, while the V8 version could be approximately £5,000 more.

New Mustang to be ‘credible sports car'

Mark Fields, Ford's COO, announced at the car show in Detroit that his company is looking for the new Mustang to rival popular existing European sports cars like the BMW M3 Coupe and the Porsche 911, and for the public in the UK and across the continent to see the Mustang as a truly "credible sports car".

The new right-hand drive Mustang car has a revised chassis with independent multi-link suspension and a larger and better braking system, as well as a brand-new 304bhp 2.3 litre turbocharged EcoBoost engine. If you want even more power, though, the V8 Mustang has a 420bhp 5 litre engine which should do the trick.

As if that wasn't enough, the new Ford Mustang has a range of new technology that has been implemented such as a push-button start, three driving modes, a track apps function and an ESC and engine calibration.

A new Mustang Convertible edition will also be coming to many popular Ford dealers across the UK as its sister models are released. The Convertible has a fabric roof that folds in line with the boot lid in just seven seconds, and will be looking to compete against the likes of the Audi A5 Cabriolet.
